Vice President - Student Development & Success

Category/Level: PSS/10

Start Date:  July 1, 2019

Basic Function: Provide leadership for the student success and retention initiatives in support of the mission and strategic goals for the College.  Direct the administration of student development programs and services to include:  Admissions/Enrollment, Athletics, Counseling and Advising, Career Services, Developmental Education, Disability Services, Financial Aid, Learning Support, Records/Registration, Secondary Enrollment, Student Housing, Student Life, Student Conduct and student complaint process.  Serve as a member of the President's Council.

Salary and Benefits:  Salary based on experience.  Fringe benefits of Blue Cross/Blue Shield major medical health insurance, eye care, dental, life and disability insurance.  Retirement benefits as provided by Social Security and IPERS or TIAA.

Qualifications: Master's degree in Student Affairs, Counseling, Administration for Higher Education or a related filed. PhD or EdD preferred. Five years' experience in student affairs administration required. 

Provide strategic, innovative leadership in the planning, implementation, assessment, and improvement of student development and retention programs and services. Responsible for the alignment with the College Strategic Plan, facilitating the development of short and long-term planning.
Provide direction for the data collection, reporting and analysis in support of student retention strategies and efforts. Work to support a culture of assessment throughout the College based upon well-defined benchmarks and consistent data collection.
Provide leadership to support outreach and services to under-represented and under-prepared student populations.
Strengthen resources in order to provide the highest quality service to students.
Responsible for the development and monitoring of the Student Services budget aligned with division plans. Prepare, monitor, control and ensure adherence with fiscal year budget. Develop cost estimates for future division needs.
Initiative, monitor and utilize student and stakeholder evaluations of services within Student Development division to enhance continuous improvement.
Coordinate the planning and implementation of professional development plans with employees of the division.
Manage the course offerings of Student Development courses.
Plan, facilitate, and keep up-to-date the online College Essentials course.
Oversee the student judicial and conduct system.
Recommend new employees to the President for full-time employment. Supervise and evaluate all Student Development staff.
Provide leadership and direction to all federal grant programs (Title III and Student Support Services) guaranteeing compliance with all federal requirements and mandates.
Design, implement, and assess programming and service to support new student orientation activities.
Lead full implementation of online student services, leveraging technology appropriately, but to the greatest degree and in line with national best practices.
Design, implement and assess programming and service in support of career decision making and placement services.
Serve as a member of the Curriculum and Academic Affairs Council as defined by the Council Charter.
Function as the PDSO (Primary Designated SEVIS Officer) for International Student Enrollment.
Serve as the Title IX Coordinator for students.
Perform in a manner which strengthens the coordination and cooperation of all organizational components of the College, including opportunities for student recruitment.
